I value your views and thank you for speaking out! Many have sold their souls and the repercussions will be devastating. Not wishing ill will on anyone but what goes around comes around.
Thank you for speaking out. I see you were an Oak Knoll trainee, I interned there in 1992-93. I recently retired after 34 years in Navy Medicine and withdrew from the AMA, ACS, ASCRS and SAGES for the very reasons you describe. I could not in good conscience embark on a transition to private practice in General Surgery given the denial of objective truth we see in medicine today. Given the chance, I find I would not join the Navy I retired from. I am hoping there will be some arrest of the decline in medicine and the military with the new administration.
Dr Bosshardt, Great interview with Tucker! I’ve been a pathologist for over 30 years and have been concerned about the decline of standards directly or indirectly related to DEI policies.
Also, your point about surgery residents being unprepared to handle cases independently after residency is exactly what I have been noticing with young pathologists in recent years. I’m have hired several right out of residency or even fellowship and they are terrified to make a call on a frozen section and are incapable of signing out cases on their own.
BTW I am Eithan Haim’s father-in-law. Thanks for supporting him and mentioning his story during your interview.
Dr Bosshardt, Thank you for not going silent. https://thefederalist.com/2025/01/28/how-trump-and-the-l-a-fires-broke-the-dei-spell/ This is an article I wrote covering H. MacDonald's book, When Race Trumps Merit. I am horrified by what I see in medicine and the airline industry(I'm the mother of a United 787 pilot, whose top flight ed cost us $100 over twenty years ago. I have a GIST tumor that must be endoscopied once a year. I now have to travel 2 hours to another location to get someone who is NOT a DEI hire, for sure. This is lunacy and I am grateful for every voice, like yours that is speaking out.
